Reviews of some interesting and important books in the latest RBL. Here are the ones that caught my eye:
Joseph H. Hellerman
Reconstructing Honor in Roman Philippi: Carmen Christi as Cursus Pudorum

David G. Horrell

John F. A. Sawyer, ed.
The Blackwell Companion to the Bible and Culture

Hellerman's monograph on Philippians is interesting but, in my view, not entirely convincing. Horell's introduction to Paul is one of the best, ideal for anyone looking for a way in to contemporary Pauline studies. Millard Lind is the author of a book that affected me profoundly as a young undergraduate, Yahweh is a Warrior. I haven't seen the Blackwell Companion yet, but it will no doubt contain some worthwhile additions to the burgeoning literature on reception-history, wirkungsgeschichte.
