New Monograph Series: Centre for Baptist History and Heritage Studies

The news that Authentic Media and thus Paternoster Press has now been sold to Koorong Booksellers in Australia, raises the obvious questions about the future of the various academic monograph series that Paternoster used to publish.  The fate of the excellent Studies in Baptist History and Thought series, one which has contributed in significant ways to a growth in theological depth and nerve for Baptists in the UK and elsewhere, is implicit in the decision of The Centre for Baptist History and Heritage at Regent's Park College in Oxford to launch its own series: Centre for Baptist History and Heritage Studies.

The picture is the cover for volume 1 in this series which is a volume of essays exploring 17th Century Baptist origins and this and other volumes will be reviewed here as they appear. Baptists who are concerned to see an ongoing role for theological and historical scholarship as a resource for the church, will want to welcome this new series and to congratulate Anthony Cross, the Centre's new Director, for getting it off the ground.

Update: Robin Parry, who is the editorial Director of Paternoster has commented on this post, to the effect that no decision has been made by Paternoster/Authentic Media/Koorong to close the Studies in Baptist History and Thought series. It is, Robin writes, "under review".

Thanks Sean. I also see that, at least in the states, Wipf and Stock is continuing to publish the volumes already produced by Paternoster.
