Yes, the other seminal performance is the recording of Bruckner 9 for German Radio - which I have yet to get hold of. I haven't read the biography yet, but who knows, I have some time over the next few months.

Thanks for the link to the Furtwangler page and the video clips! I've long been interested in his interpretations of Bruckner (especially compared to Otto Klemperer), but certainly Beethoven's 9th is a critical piece in the context of his story. Have you read his biography "The Devil's Music Master" by Sam Shirakawa?
